Do you think it is right to eat during a yoga class? One teacher freaked and yelled and cursed at a student just because that student was eating Oreos during the class when everyone was supposed to be in childs pose. What’s so bad about dunking oreos in milk in a class anyway? Oreos are good.
well i do not know about that one. If nobody complains then i guess it is ok. Although it would me messy and you might get cookie crumbs on the floor
Whilst i dont think its appropriate for a yoga teacher to freak, yell or curse about anything(!!) I do find it strange and maybe a bit disrespectful to eat during class, even more so with something as un-sattvic as biscuits! I will leave it to more knowledgable people than myself to explain why asanas are performed on an empty stomach and eating/drinking throughout should be avoided.
Certainly its a weird behviour on the part of both teacher and student. Surely common sense tells one that the energy of a class can be disrupted by people going off on tangents doing what they feel like in class, let alone eating?

I don’t think it is right to eat oreos during a yoga class. As a student I come to yoga class for better health. I would surely be distracted and feel craving if I see somebody else eating oreos or anything while in the class.
I also do not see why the teacher would freak and yell and curse for such a thing. This could be handled without any of that.
Recently there have been a number of posts where people present situations where teachers behave contrary to what yoga teach. This is really for me a symptom of how poor the training is that some so called teachers receive.
Certainly both the student and teacher behaved out of order and we as outsiders can only guess what is the karmic pattern between the two of them. There is alwasy the bigger picture of karma in all situations. The question is, is this still part of your karmic path or is this perhaps an indication by Spirit that it is time to move to a new teacher?

My inner cynic tells me that this is not a legitimate post.

I was thinking the same thing; this question can’t be real at all…
I think it would be very disrespectful to eat during class, and if this is a real question then the teacher was also very disrespectul to behave in such a manner.
well i have seen food in yoga studios. I remember after a soul sweat yoga class there was a reception where peopole talked and had food including cookies and good stuff and nobody complained. Just bring enough for everyone. after all you do not want to be eating when nobody else is.
If it’s advertising, in my class (where I am DA TEACHA’), ANYTHING GOES.
Want to have the juicy burger, and can’t wait ? Grab it. Wan’t to release gas ? Just do it. In fact, MY CLASS is so revolutionary, so new, that you do not even have to attend ! You just do whatever you like, for a mere 50 bucks of monthly fee.
