Emotion and Body Parts

Does anyone know what specific body parts are related to specific emotions. There are a lot of generalisations out there but i am wondering if stiff legs are related to some emotion, the calves, the hamstrings, what sits in the back muscles, what emotions are at play when the heart physically hurts after yoga practice, etc…

Thanks

A massage therapist said something might be up with my stress levels related to the basics of survival and reproduction when she discovered my low back was made of something akin to granite. Gotta say, she wasn’t wrong. But I knew about that stress before associating it with a body part. You might just catalog (not necessarily here) your emotional situation and work with that in general.
I hope you have ruled out physical causes to pain in or near your heart.

Hi,

There is a wonderful little book by Louise L Hay called Heal Your Body, in it she gives the underlying emotional issues associated with every body part. Leg problems she describe as being fearful of the future and moving forward in a specific area in your life.

From my experience in dealing with patients with chronic issues, I’ve seen negative emotions vary in their way of expressing themselves in the body. Negative emotions bring the nervous system out of homeostasis, causing people to become either sympathetic-dominant or parasympathetic-dominant which puts people on the road to bad health, chronic pain or stiffness. The chronic pains people carry are almost always the reflection of the emotional stresses they hold on to. For example, I had a patient who came to me because he had a headache that lasted 8 months- his root stress was the feeling of envy because his friends were richer than him. I had 2 other patients with perpetual headaches, and their root stresses were completely different. So anytime your body is not in homeostasis, it’s the body giving you an alarm to examine the emotional stress you’re holding onto consciously or unconsciously. That emotional alarm varies. The only general thing I can say is emotions directly affect the nervous system.

Of course certain points in the body are related to certain diseases (emotional or physical).
The system of accupressure draws on this very points. Also alopathy suggests certain
commonly known combinations like diabetic patients are adviced to take care of their
feet. Also it is not so simple as calves are related to certain emotions. On every body
part including calves there are many accupressure points. So it depends. Some people
are not even aware of pain at those points unless they are pressed on those points.
Because only when you apply pressure precisely on that point the patient will feel the
pain , not otherwise.
