I’m planning yoga floor space at my workplace. Does anyone know of any formulas for figuring out the amount of space to allow each person for his or her mat and comfortable moving room?
24 - 30 sq ft per person.
Thank You Flex Penguin. I guess that would leave about 1 to 1.5 feet on either side of the mat, right?
Yes. Those are the ratios I’m working with as I am currently working on a floorplan of my own.
Thats alot of space. Our studio, which we are 4 weeks to opening, is a total of 1,200 sqft, the “studio” portion is 800 sq and I figure we can “squeeze” 35 mats in. I only hope to have that problem.
That puts it at around the 24 sq ft per
I’m new to forums. I appreciate your input. Now how do I graciously withdraw from one of these conversations? Do I unsubscribe from the thread or what?

Bob,
Measure arms length apart for each person and length of the mat for each row.
You can get double the number by staggering, putting people shoulder-to-shoulder facing and lying alternately opposite, front end of the mats coming together like this:
lxl _ lxl _ lxl _ lxl _ lxl
_ lxl _ lxl _ lxl _ lxl
I call this “New York style.” It works. I hope it helps.
