From Wherever We Are

I was going through my notes from the SYTAR 2008 and I wanted to share some of what Rama Jyoti Vernon shared with the us in the closing ceremony.

• Yoga enables us to let fall away all that we have accumulated in our lives. It falls away with Yoga and we remember that place where we are all One.

• You cannot see your back body, so venture into yourself and see it from the inside out.

• Establish relationships with others first and have everything grow from this place. Rama quotes Abraham Lincoln, who said, “I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.” (I think to, we can elevate even this sentiment by knowing our enemies as our own selves. I also think to the Twameva mantra: You are my father, you are my mother…you are my very Self…)

• From wherever we are, we are impacting our world and that of the whole world.

• Our work as human beings is to create nonviolence in our own minds, in our own hearts, in our own homes.

Hi Nichole,

Wonderful quotes, all of them hits home.

Thank you for posting them.

Many years ago (about 20yrs a go) I read somewhere, I think it was in a Buddhist text ? ?All that happens to you is a direct consequence of that which is inside you, i.e. circumstances mirror themselves.?
This seemed absurd ? how can this be true ? I am not inviting verbal abuse when I am caught up in a road rage incidence, or when I have exchanges with a surly unmotivated supermarket attendant who short changes me & then expresses much annoyance when I request redress, or someone losses restrain & expresses violence etc
This can not be so ? I can’t be inviting this, can I?

? 20yrs hence today I see things differently, its not that people are better drivers, or Supermarket attendants are better etc But what is true is that I am no longer angry or always in a hurry, or disorganised etc I am more composed & my world seems more composed ? I no longer attract others anger. When situations occur (which they still do) ? my polite & non threatening demeanour seems to put the other party at ease.

Just as I invite all the good things that happen in my life ? I also engineer the ?bad?. If someone is nasty to me ? then I am being challenged ? challenged to accept some aspect of myself which I refuse to acknowledge, the magic is the moment I accept it the circumstance seem to disappear they simply no longer occur ? Supermarket attendant are no longer nasty ? you express love and it just seems to bounce back in much larger quantity. I found out everyone wants to be Loved. Don?t you think if more of humanity realised this then it would be a joy to be in human form …

The following from above says it all

The moment we realize this & practice this ? then every step we tread seems filled with love , a path which seems to lead to Love?
