Garbha Pindasana

I have trouble fitting my arms through the space between my thigh and calf for garbha pindasana. I could understand if I had bigger limbs or was a chunkier person that I’d have less clearance. But even at my smaller size I still can’t seem to fit my arms through that space. I can only make it to maybe half way of the forearm.

The teacher who leads the primary series ashtanga class supplies spray bottles in class specifically for this asana so that people can spray their limbs to make them more slippery.

Other than using the spray bottle so I can slip and slide into place, what tips could I employ to be able to fit my arms farther into that space to be able to achieve the asana correctly?

Thanks.

Please be very, very careful with this asana…it is very easy to damage the knees if the hips are not ready.
Make sure you have a very deep and comfortable padmasana first…the feet should be high up at the very tops of the legs with feet flexed…I am sure it helps if legs and arms are very skinny too…take it slow…do not force…any discomfort at all in the knees then STOP.

Thanks. I have absolutely no discomfort in the knees. My only challenge is that skin seems to get stuck on skin and my arms won’t move through the “hole” between the thigh and calf. I’m thinking that my “issue” is just body compisition, which is funny bc I have skinny arms and average legs.
