As I use meditation more and more, I find myself wanting to invent my own-guided visualizations/meditations for the students. However, I wonder if you know of a good source to locate specific meditations pertaining to chakras, specific medical conditions (beyond the ones visualizing the red and blood cells doing battle), like diabetes, fibromyalgia, Parkinson’s, etc. An obscure question, but you never know with you!
Visualizations are good for pitta predominant students such as yourself. I would not have a reference for conditions such as you are recommending except to see Carl Simonton’s literature on cancer clients he is one of the first to use this method in medical intervention, he is an oncologist. I find chakra meditations are not beneficial and do not recommend them. Instead concept of simply opening yourself to wave of breath (described in my book page pg. 53-55) which travels in the central channel of the chakras but not focusing specifically on them as Spirit knows best how to open us beyond our minds self centered interests.
Comments - Following up on Q&A (5/21/02), for your student seeking visualizations specifically targeting various health challenges – I highly recommend the audiotapes by Belleruth Naperstek; the series is called “Healing Journeys.”
Naperstek has thoroughly researched the physiology and healing process involved in a broad range of conditions, visiting hospitals, consulting doctors, psychologists, oncology treatment centers, etc., and interviewing many people to learn which imageries are most useful to them in their healing. She has a series of tapes, one for each condition (fatigue, chronic pain, chemotherapy, etc.), as well as a book with some guided imagery scripts for various needs. Your student can also speak Naperstek’s imagery scripts onto tape for her students, so that her students can listen to the voice they have become accustomed to hearing.
