Guidelines for Q&A on Structured Yoga Therapy

Please note that this website was set up by one of Mukunda’s students to share his insights into your Q. Now the site was recently sold as commercial venture since it had grown beyond the size of his student’s management time. Hence it is likely that some of you may be seeking how to access the site more efficiently.

General Yoga Discussion is an open site for all to share regardless of topic or whether you are a novice or long term teacher.

Q & A with Mukunda is a site that Mukunda monitors and will answer your Q on practice and Yoga Therapy. It is not a site to give your advice to others; please offer your assistance via the General Yoga Discussion site.

Spirit’s Practice is another forum for his advice on spiritual matters, for those wishing to use him as a spiritual mentor in their sadhana. Again this site is also not appropriate for others to give spiritual advice. You can share your advice and experiences on the General Yoga Discussion pages instead.

I feel kind of sad that this site has turned into a commercialized venture, in my mind it looses some purity. makes it seem like the saying, everything has a price.

Mukunda,
Thank you for stepping in to clarify.

Please don’t be worried that this forum has been acquired by Social Knowledge. We really understand how special online forum communities really are. We have adopted many fine communities from caring owners who no longer had time to maintain them (it takes a lot more work then people realize).

The transition here on Yoga Forums has been slow because the there was relatively little traffic in the past and now things are starting to pick up. As you can see from these stats the amount of people visiting our community is increasing significantly. This is due to months of search engine optimization work that I have been doing. With this success (new viewers) we will face various hurdles including more people providing input on the topics (which can be good and bad).

We will be releasing the communities official policies soon and then will be working to enforce these policies. That way we can ensure that the community has a solid foundation to grow on in the future. I feel confident that this community will be a leading place on the internet for Yoga in the years to come.

Rest assured our community will remain free for all to join and express their views.

I am new to this website, and had no idea from the way it is set up, how to use it properly. Thank you for your guidance, Mukunda. The setup of this site makes more sense to me now, and I feel more confident using it.

Yoga does not need accolades, nor should a yoga site strive for them. Ego wants something to be a leader, yoga is about getting rid of the ego

Thanks for your feedback Tubeseeker. If you only knew me in person you would realize that I am a very kind person who dislikes people with big egos.

I acquired this community last June (before you joined) and if you have not noticed, I have posted very little outside the moderators forum. It’s not my intent to push this forum in a certain direction but to let the community organically mold the direction it takes. This community is about the members sharing information not about me or my ego. I just happen to have a lot of expertise in managing online forum communities and fell confident that our community will be an even more active and special place in a few years. It will be great resource for thousands of people to share their knowledge and experiences.

The Forum is not yoga (anymore than the local Wholefoods is yoga).
Just as a retail yoga studio needs marketing and thus students in order to pay its bills, an online presence has to pay for server space (storage) and bandwidth (delivery) as well as the human resources needed to prune it and back it up etcetera. Not earning this money would be the absence of fiscal integrity, that equals a lack of balance and therefore would be unyogic.

Whether the mission of the site should be this or that is not for me to determine.

The complete removal of Ego is not the desired effect of yoga. The desired effect is one of balancing the ego and using it’s manifestation as a tool for heightening our awareness of the self as the seer.

Ego does serve in several ways. It enjoys feelings of affiliation, loyalty, and pride. It supplies force, conviction and motivation. It can energize, arouse, and stimulate enthusiasm. It also helps us to deal with external stress and maintains emotional stability. Some also say that the Ego receives feedback from the self in the form of dreams.
