Hi Everyone,
I want to know if anyone else has heard of Critical Alignment Therapy yoga, and if so, have you tried it or known someone who has? It focuses on your spine specifically. The most crucial pose is a headstander. This is the first time that I have done headstands. I have heard that they are good for you. With benefits, such as: improved circulation, youthful skin, relief from restless leg syndrome, mental stress, it improves memory and facilitates alertness. However; I am aware that all your organs are also upside down while doing a headstand.
There is just one thing: I have an extra S1 L6 vertebrea in my lumbar spine. As I was doing a headstand last saturday and I was finished my class - I felt great. Except I also had a massage appointment booked for after my class. I thought that would make me feel blissful and over the top. Except the massage therapist did something called ‘swinging’, she said that my rib was out of place. Except I didn’t feel like it was. The area felt sore from the yoga class, as the headstander works the abdominals right near the rib. After she did the 'swinging’n I felt worse. This massage therapist works with my chiropractor. I hate to be skeptical but I’m wondering what went wrong here? If anyone has theories or comments, advise would be much appreciated !
