Having trouble with downward dog transition

When I’m moving from downward dog to, for instance, warrior 1, and placing my right foot in between my hands, my knee often sticks behind my right arm instead of going in between my arms, and I have to lift my right hand up slightly.
What am I doing wrong? Is it just more practice??
Thanks!

Hi Chloe and welcome!

Good question and it’s a common problem. We just had a discussion in the General Yoga section. Check the thread “Advise from Downdog to Lunge”. It should help and give you some tips.

Previous thread Chloe.

Chloe,

You’re not doing anything “wrong.” Lifting your hand momentarily to get that foot higher is the appropriate modification for this very common challenge. And your right…it’s just more practice, more time. It won’t be long.

Thanks all!
