Health Improvement Asanas

As everyone knows, Asanas have a beneficial effect on the human body?s various systems, such as, Matsyendrasana (spinal twist) which benefits the digestive system and helping the pancreas to improve its insulin production. Similarly, Sarvangasana (Shoulder stand) produces good results for the endocrine gland system, particularly the thyroid gland. All Asanas that have a complementary effect on various organs of the body are classified under the health improvement category.

What’s your point? I would imagine these things to be self-evident perhaps even to beginners.

I don’t know what the point of the OP is, but what I think is interesting is how I often here of new specific health benefits of Yoga. For example, I’ll be reading the news and often see an article that says ‘Doing Yoga helps cure/prevent X’, where X is some illness or ailment.

No one knows what Merry’s deal is Scott.
Random statement posts on about five different yoga forums. No replies and no contributions to other threads. It’s like a virtual tape recording that just keeps playing over and over again.

One of the reasons for the frequency of those “new” specific benefits is that some actual scientific research is starting to be compiled and released. Not that we yogis need scientific validation but some obviously do respond to such things.

The other factor is the wild growth yoga is experiencing here in North America.
