Hello all

Hello everybody. I’m new to this forum. I’ve joined, because I want some advice/guidance on developing a regular Yoga practice

Ive been attending Yoga classes for a couple of years now. I’m taking a course next year and plan to start a daily practice. Prob 30 mins per day.

My first question is: Is it good to mix different styles or combine? I go to Astanga classes but feel like I want to mix it with a more relaxed practice such as Yin Yoga.

Ryan- It’s fine to mix different styles. Try whatever variety that you like. I trained in one lineage for many years, but I still enjoy taking classes from other traditions sometimes. You may find that you really like another lineage or you may find other teachers that help you get more in touch, and maybe if you stick with Ashtanga, the other classes will help you to understand your own practice more. Try the relaxed practice, and if it feels good, keep doing it. It’s all about finding what connects you, calms your mind, and makes you operate with a bit more clarity in the world.

Thanks for the reply - really useful to hear your perspective on things - i was slightly concerned that my question may have seemed naive but this is a new beginning for me and I had to ask something!

After talking to my teacher tonight i think im going to look at mixing hatha and yin to start with (alternating the days maybe) and seeing how it feels. Looking forward to regular practice.
