Hello from Antigua

Hello All,

I joined yoga forums on Saturday but it’s taken me since then to submit a thread. I started to seriously practice yoga two years ago when I was going through a relationship breakdown. I credit yoga for helping me get through the experience in a calming and positive way.

Since March I have started teaching some friends who have seen how I have benefitted from my practice and encouraged me to teach them what I’d learnt. I really want to obtain a qualification but as a single parent, finances and time are severely limited. I have looked at distance learning and have come across a couple of schools, in particular the Aurua Wellness centre who offer courses online.

Does any one have any experience of Aurua or other online schools? Would anyone recommend this as a good way to go?

While I don’t have any experience with what you asked, I did want to stop in and say welcome to the forums

Hi David and Albert, thanks for your welcomes.

Will keep looking.

Hello and welcome

I also picked up yoga more intensly around the time of a relationship breakup, funny what circumstances bring people to yoga…

As far as distance learning for yoga certification, I actually had no idea that that even existed! It sounds kind of counter-intuitive to me, in that teaching yoga is so hands-on, but now I am going to do some googling to learn more!

I am actually attending a teacher training next month. Hoping it will send me in the direction I want to go!

Hi AbdhijaKimberly,

It’s good to hear from you. Yes, it can sometimes be strange how and when yoga manages to come peoples lives.

Under normal circumstances, the distance learning wouldn’t really be something I would consider, I too believe that teaching yoga has to be hands on…unfortunately, there are very few teachers in Antigua, and those who are certified received their training overseas. That’s not really an option for me at the moment.

I would be interested to hear how you get on with your investigations into yoga distance learning.

Good luck with your teacher training next month.
