There is a good teacher in South Africa right here, on this forum. Search for
Pandara.

Thanks for replying, tina. Been doing yoga for 3 months and feel so joyful and supple already. There’s only a few teachers and widespread. Maybe Pandora can help. Im on the Westrand and don’t want to travel too far in the evenings. After only a short time I can do the headstand, etc. For a 55jr old it is a revelation.

Namaste,
Would like to be your yogafriend.:-:stuck_out_tongue:

Welcome to the forums Ria, it’s a pleasure to meet you

hi Ria u do headstand after 3 months , oh super , do u need wall ?

I also like to be a yoga friend of u., same like u yoga already merging with me, I am so serious in it now.

Ur progression is so quick , what has ur teacher teach u? what’s his/ her methos or kind of yoga teaching ?

Hello Ria

It’s very nice to know you can do headstand in 3 months. I am only 34 and it took me a while to do headstand. I am now finally able to do it without a wall and stay steady for upto 2 minutes.

I still can’t do it the recommended way though. I have give it a “push” to get into headstand. I can’t go slow and steady. How about you?

Love
Yalgaar

Namaste Ria,

Welkom from a fellow South African, there are a few others here as well. Yes, the West Rand is unfortunately too far for you to drive and the traffic to Pretoria will be hectic, so you stay just where you are and with your current teacher.

Hope you’ll find the good advice you need here and more.

Hello David, same from me. I hope to talk to you about yoga and share my experience.

Tina, yogafriend. I can do headstand, but not yet bow. My arms feel too short to push my head from floor. Shoulderstand, bridge and stretches I love. Maybe each body is different. My teacher leaves area so I need new one. Have book by Iyengar, and dvds to busy myself in meantime. Namaste.

Yalgaar, I go slowly with headstand. Not yet perfect. Sometimes use wall when Im not feeling strong. Lovely to meet you. Namaste.

Pandara, I feel honoured by fellow South African. You are in Pretoria but do you any teachers in Roodepoort area? My teacher is leaving the area and I feel lonely. I meet other yogis this way in a class.

Hi Ria,

Please check the Yoga Teachers Fellowship website at: www.ytf.co.za they list registered teachers and you are on competent hands when you use accredited teachers from them.

Thankyou Pandara, for quick response. Nearest in Westdene. Namaste…

Ria , hope u r in good hand asap , a good teacher is like a lamp in a dark room , i always rely on good teacher may be I am lazy I like to take private lesson from those knowledgeable teacher and learn new yoga things from time to time.

Ur area is not a city ? why one teacher leave then ur now so poor and lonely without some one to care for u. Poor u.

Tina, my teacher is so full of energy. In her class I met 12 other ladies and 2 gentlemen. We were like family. Maybe we’ll make a plan together. But she left me not poor , but very rich in yogalove.

My area is a suburb of Johannesburg City, in the West. I’ll let you know what happens…

oh Ria, nice to hear that u get yoga friend as close as family , that’s very good that yoga unit u all together ( before unit with Divine )

Hi Ria, i’m also new here, been doing Yoga for 5 months now, and after just that short time i’m also now really passionate to Yoga, i follow Iyengar Yoga btw, what about you ?

nice you can do sirsasana just in 3 months, hope it’s in the correct posture and alignment.

Namaste to all of you who are here.

Hi Yogivid, I do Iyengar Yoga too. I heard that BKS has passed on. Is that true? Try to do sirsasana like he prescribe, slow flowing movement with breathing.

Namaste
