Hello

Greetings all,

I am new to this forum but have been practicing yoga off and on for 25+ years. I took classes when I was younger, but due to time constraints I have been practicing with my collection of DVD’s for the last few years. Yoga has kept me remarkably flexible and has seen me through all kinds of stressful situations. I love the fact that I can always find a yoga practice that suits wherever I am mentally, physicially, emotionally and spiritually.

Namaste

Welcome to the forum, it’s great to meet you!

25 years? Wow, good for you! What got you started in yoga?

Hi David,

I enjoyed gymnastics in phys ed when I was in school and I have always been agile and active. In the 70’s a friend invited me to a yoga class in her home - yes the instructor made house calls. That was my introduction to yoga and I loved it. After that I took yoga classes when and where I could find them and fit into my schedule - the Y, community centers, the local community college and a couple of times at an instructors home. There were no Yoga Center in my area back then. I also became a devotee of Lilias Folan on PBS and her books and videotapes (which I still have and treasure). When aerobics became popular I mostly did that for a while until my knee gave out. For the past few years, I have been practicing yoga (mostly in the very early morning) 5-7 days a week. I have a DVD library that has a wide variety of yoga practices. Although I have been doing yoga for a long time I consider myself a “advanced novice” - I am still learning (which is another reason I love yoga). Thank you for asking!
