Help! muscle memory-wipe?

Through years of yoga and meditation I have come to the realization that for most of the day, I keep my glutes clenched. And I hesitate to say this but it’s not just my glutes - it’s like I have to go to the bathroom and am ‘holding it’.

Thank god for internet anonymity…

Anyways, I’m pretty sure that this has led to lower back problems throughout my life. I’m a pretty tense person which is what originally brought me to yoga and meditation. Mindfulness has helped me with this issue because I’m able to better catch myself when I’m clenching. But I’ve also realized that as soon as I relax the muscles in question, they begin to tighten again involuntarily, and often times within about 30 seconds I’m right where I was.

So, I’m looking for some way to combat this muscle memory I have. I’m pretty sure this isn’t solely due to stress - or that if it is, I was over-stressed for so long, my body just got used to doing this. Mindfulness has helped me realize what I’m doing it and how to relax it, but it doesn’t seem to be helping the core issue.

Help!

I cant help you with your muscle memory but the mineral magnesium is muscle relaxing. Many sleep better and are more relaxed when taking it. You could try to get magnesium , do some research as some say it should be mag- cal pills to have balance. So in the mean time try this and i hope someone here are able to help you better…

lots of stress in your work will also make you tensed as well. Even people that is negative around you could make you tensed So it could be many factors.

Sorry for a late reply. Hans123 - congratulations! “years of yoga and meditation” has finally paid off and you realized something about who you are and what is holding you back. Just keep going, there is nobody else can do this for you. Just hang on in there!
