Help needed: Yoga for curing facial pain?

I have been having facial ‘nerve’ pain for quite a while now especially on the
left side of my face. Apparently there is nothing whatsoever wrong with my facial nerves after an MRI scan and exams by my consultant. But the symptoms of pain and difficulty of having full control over facial movement is there, especially near the eyes.

What exercises can I do?

The pain also extends down to my neck and I find it very painful to turn
my neck fully to one side. I have had thyroid exams and the results are
normal.

I will be seeing an ophthalmologist soon but really need help in reducing symptoms in the mean time.

Thank you

How long have you had this condition? - since practising yoga, or prior to practising yoga?

Does anything in your yoga practice exacerbate or relieve the pain in any way?

Most nerves run into the spine so many nerve pains that are seemingly in the arms, hands, legs, etc, can be due to spinal issues, where nerves are being trapped or pinched by vertebrae, etc. Such issues can often be helped by yoga exercises, or can sometimes be caused by incorrectly performed yoga exercises.

The two main facial muscle exercises are:
[ul]
[li]raising the eyebrows
[/li][li]smiling
[/li][/ul]
Try doing each of these movements 25 times in isolation, 25 times in alternation and 25 times in unison (should take about 2 minutes). It might bring some relief.

Try following:

  1. Gentle massage with oil
  2. Simhasana asana

sounds like a nerve. maybe few. how long have you been suffered this?

have they mentioned bells pulsy?

one of my clients had a facial nerve demmagde and yes, the physical exercises mentioned above helped a lot as well as yoga nidra and meditation practice.
