Hi, everyone. I need your help. I wanna open my own yoga site but don’t know what to choose. At this site TemplatesFlow.com - Web Templates, WebSite Design, Templates For Web, Animated Templates I found collection of sport templates and yoga templates. What can you advise me? Should I buy such a template? Thanks for your help.
Namaste Olivia,
What does “I wanna open my own site” mean exactly? Another forum? A site to advertise your yoga studio? Please be specific.
This seems to be more of a question for a web architect/designer than it is for yoga practitioners, but I guess that depends on what you are really asking for and the non-yoga expertise of our membership.
Looking forward to your reply.
Best wishes,
Sorry for I didn’t clearly express my wish. I said that I want to open my yoga site. I meant the site of the yoga studio. I with my friend are owners of such studio. Only I conduct the business matters and she works with clients. Soon she’ll have a birthday so I decided to buy that web site as a present to her. As I’m a not big specialist in such technologies, I addressed you for the help. Sorry for confusing you. But may you still help me?
Hello Olivia,
That is much clearer; thank you. What a fantastic gift for your friend and your business! I think you should be able to get some direction here. I know that InnerAthelete, Lars and Karin all have websites for what they offer. I have only a place-holding page up for myself (my husband is a web designer/architect which means he too busy to make my site ;)).
I am going to move this post onto the General Discussion board where it fits a little better and will get more views and hopefully more help for you.
Cheers
Thank you very much! I really appreciate you. It will be great!
Hello Olivia,
There are several concerns in choosing, acquiring, and managing a web site.
Templates are a structure and as such they are fixed. If you have clearly defined your web needs AND the template fits those then sure get one.
The upside or benefit of a template is that the framework is already created, it is relatively fast and cheap to set up and get going, and it can easily meet simple needs.
If your site is going to grow (dynamic) then it would be critical to assess that growth in terms of content, pages, and a timeline.
You will also need a hosting plan, correct? Unless of course it is bundled or included with the template. In that case you want to look at the hosting package you are purchasing. How many email accounts, how much file storage, and what kind of bandwidth you will be provided.
One of the things folks seem to not get is the difference between registering a domain and hosting a web site. In the first one is merely “buying” a name for a period of time. You get nothing else. Once you are ready to attach a site to that name you need a host (a box out here in cyberspace) on which to place your files (templates or what ever). The fees for each are very different. Each one lasts for a time period and needs to be renewed periodically.
If you have additional questions, post them. I’l get to them as soon as I can.
