Hi from Srbija/Serbia

Hi everybody. I’m 24y old male and I’m yoga beginner with no teacher. I’m very interested in hatha yoga and I have a lot of different yoga books inluding “Anatomy of Hatha Yoga by H. David Coulter”, “HathaYoga by Yogi Ramachraka” & “Hatha Yoga Pradipika”. I don’t know where to start, I hope I will find my answers here on this forum & I hope we’ll be friends

hello and welcome! i think you may be our first member who has introduced themselves from serbia. i have been through serbia and montenegro on buses and trains from croatia on my way to bulgaria. we did not have the chance to go to belgrade, but the serbian country side is quite beautiful!

so again, welcome. i think those are fine books to start with–they have so much in them, that even as your practice progresses, you can will have things to learn from them, and on an even deeper level.

if you need to grow your own practice without a teacher, here are two links to other threads where members have listed their favorite books. one book that is not listed in either of those lists, but that i consider an absolute essential to my own practice of yoga, and to understanding of yoga philosophy, is a translation of patanjali’s yoga sutras. here is a link that discusses various sutras that are available as well.

your friend in yoga,
nichole

Hi Nichole, thanks for your reply. I found a new book and I love it "“The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Yoga” , and I hope in couple of years I will be yoga xpert

Good morning, shpongle. Welcome to the forums!

Welcome! Yoga has so many rich traditions and there are a variety of perspectives from different authors and schools of yoga. You might want to consider getting a yoga video to help you practice. I really like any of the DVDs by John Friend, which you can find at Anusara yoga’s website.

Blessings. Enjoy your practice!
