My name is Daya Vera, from Puerto Rico. I’m 17 years old. Searching on the internet on how to reduce stress, I found an article about yoga and decided to give it a try. I need tips and answers for this questions:
Do I need a mat and blocks and all that expensive equipment from yoga suppliers?
Does it really reduces stress?
How long have you been doing it?
Welcome Daya Vera!
I do yoga for 10 years. I used to have panic attacks and yoga helped me. (if you are interested - you can see all the story on my www.southsideyoga.vpweb.com) It does reduce stress. To experience FULL RANGE of benefits, you have to commit to it and discover something new every day. Doing just body exercises might not be as effective as yoga as a system.
Yes you better get some block and strap. For the mat you can use just a blanket. I started yoga long time ago, we used regular blankets for mat, some boxes and toys as blocks and ties as a straps. This is the only things you need.
You diffidently need a mat if your are going to studio. Do not buy expensive staff, it all the same thing:)
