Hi there from the Netherlands

Hey,

My name is Tum and I’m from the Netherlands (yes, we almost won the finals against Spain). But that’s not important

Actually I’m pretty new to yoga, during february this year I tried a lesson in body balance (Less Mills) and was hooked. Two weeks after my first lessons I discovered there was also a Power Yoga lesson given at my gym. It was the yoga and tai chi in body balance which I liked so much!!

Unfortunately I had to quit because of my education. But after 3 months of doing completely nothing (no exercise, practice… whatever) I diceded to start taking lessons.

As a kid I’ve played a lot of baseball, a few years of savate (French kickboxing) and liked so many kinds of sports (except extreme sports). The last 5 years were spent in the gym, to gain more strenght.

Right now I’m searching for a solid education, to become a yoga instructor. Yes, I’m quite new to yoga, but according to my teacher I make a good progression.

Welcome Tum, it’s great to have you here  I didn’t know that they had baseball in the Netherlands. It is the same rules as in the USA?

Nice to meet you! I am also hoping to become a yoga instructor, have signed up for a training for this August. I recommend taking a few other yoga classes of different styles and at different studios to get a feel for what works for you. I have had some bad luck with yoga classes taught out of gyms myself. Good luck to you!

Welcome, Tum  It is great to have a teacher who is encouraging in your practice! Wishing you all the best on your path.

*nichole

Thanks David, we do play baseball in the Netherlands. It’s not that populair as in America, but with the same rules (there’s only a difference in bats). Haven’t played it for 9 years, so maybe the rules are different now. Used to play catcher and center field.

Cool! I was a center fielder too.

How are your bats different?

And do you find that the asymmetry of baseball messed your body up? It tore mine to shreds :frowning:

Made of different material. But now I think the top class teams only play with wooden bats. I thought there’s no pro teams. 1st league is playing with aluminium? (don’t know if it’s the right English word).

It just sounds different, like wooden bats, when they hit the ball it’s like PAK (and sometimes they break)!! And the others do PING (made from aluminium)!!

You mean, if you’re a lefty, you throw with your left arm and also stand on the right side of the plate? After a few weeks of holiday, I allways got my right arm messed up when continue practicing.

That’s great about yoga… it’s asymetric. Warrior II on the left, warrior II on the right.
