Hidden insecurity

I dissolved my business late last year in order to fulfil other visions. Yesterday, I ran into a former employee who has taken up the mantle and is finding success. On learning this, I felt a brief pang of resentment - very unusual for me, and I spent the rest of the day thinking "hhhmmmmm…that’s interesting. Where is that coming from?’.

Disillusionment.

I’ll save you the winky.

nah HERE IT IS! >

while reaswaran might be right . . . you could say 'the notion of egoism" is the cause of any damn problem and be right. It’s a nice trick and its true.

But . . .

Yes. I figured as much.

A good indicator for oneself on what is still needing to be worked on within self.

I think the important thing is that you did not get caught up in the feeling. You observed it and you are trying to deal with it. Maybe a healthier response would have been to congratulate him on his success. So you’re not a saint, neither am I.

Reminds me of the of the saying… “when a friend of mine succeeds, a small part of me dies.”… It’s just that little bit of status anxiety we get, when someone we consider our equal appears to be moving up and leaving us behind.

It wasn’t jealousy. The feeling was resentment. This employee was not entirely productive during the last year, and I supported her above the protests of her team. So, finding her cheerfully moving along made me recoil. I’m past it and moving forward myself to exciting times.

Even poison itself becomes medicine when pierced with an eye on the forehead. It is good that you have intellectually recognized it - but what is needed is something far more than just an intellectual recognition. If resentment had arisen, and you were not being mindful in the moment, without identifying with whatever has arisen in one’s experience, then one may have missed the opportunity to move beyond it. And as long as the seeds have not been dissolved at the level of the unconscious, the same resentment is bound to happen again and again in some other form, all that is needed is something to trigger it.

Thanks for all your feedback. Being aware of the subtle emotions and reactions within us lead to healing many wounds from the past that keep crying for attention. I’ve found that, like ghost feelings of an arm long amputated, some events in our past keep haunting us until dispelled. The first step for me is in the intellectual awareness.

Amir- you come up with the best quotes. I’m making this one into a bumper sticker. Hope you don’t mind

Sorry…I’m obviously too thick to get that…what does it mean?..

Flex,

: )

So come on, what does it mean???

He might be referring to the powers of the Ajna…

Thank you B Shavir…well I did think that really but then thought maybe I’m wrong…I get confused with things like that somehow…??? x

ooow and yes, I agree it does!

I don’t blame you, I didn’t get his statement the first time!

Opening ajna supports in the cultivation of the witness state because when you bring your focus to ajna or to the forehead(the ajna is really located between the ears btw at the pituituary and pineal glands interms of having a physcial correlate but it is harder to sense at first so we prepare with locating at the forehead or between eyebrows; also another interesting point is ajna also, it’s field, actually extends to the back of head to medulla oblongata etc and occipital region which controls the eyes etc) it helps bring around a greater sense of detachment.

So you are being less prone to identify with whatever mind-body states may happen to arise… In security is a terrible one and it’s probably usually tied or experience with anxiety, vulnerability and depresssion perhaps. I know i’ve felt these things myself. It’s not very nice especially when it rears it’s head more acutely often when we are least prepared for it or feeling weak etc etc

Also another thing about insecurity can have it’s orgins in the mental activity of comparing ourselves with one another, probably more like apples with oanges, some similarities but different and with the same struggles, in order to perhaps to get some relative guauge of our own self-worth or value.Meditation can help with this this obsession with the outer world by giving us time-out from it and helping us see more clearly our true nature and thus become more objective in return about what we think is occuring externally. The seat of inner guru is ajna so it really can accelerate your spiritual progress and feeling secure in the actions and choices you make in relation to others etc.I am particularly thinking about viveka or posessing some wisdom of discrimination.Knowing when or if your actions are alright and not amiss.I think having a dedicated meditation practice ican function similar to the pilot of a plane or like a dependable torch to steer and guide you in life as well your over-all sadhana( same thing i guess) whatever that may be.
