how many of you here practice, primarily, hot yoga?
I’ve just recently tried a couple of “hot” classes by me and I think (dare I say )I kind of like them. Hot yoga however is for by body where as regular (non heated) yoga feeds my soul.
How hot does a room have to be in order for a class to be called “hot” yoga? I’ve personally never taken a hot yoga class. I get hot enough during a “regular” yoga class where I’m guessing the room is not warmer than 80 degrees and think I would get cranky in a really hot and sweaty room!
The Moksha class I take is usually between 114 -117 degrees.
I find that hot yoga is too hot for me. I can tolerate it for limited amounts of time but I find it takes away from my concentration. I’ve never been a fan of hot tubs or saunas either
Not I, said the rabbit.
I don’t find the temperature, one way or the other, to facilitate Yoga.
I’d no sooner practice in heat than I would amid the aroma of thai food. I’d no sooner practice in silence than I would in cold. I’d no sooner practice in wind than I would in a park.
The climate is just another external factor and the practice, for me, is intrinsic not extrinsic.
I cant do yoga in hot environment. I feel as if exhausted, if i do hot yoga.Thats why i do yoga in cool environment, mostly in the morning when the air is fresh and cool. I feel relaxed in such environment. What are the benefits of hot yoga?

:) one who wanted to achive yoga path is both way usuful phyisically as well spirutuallly.
yoga increases your innerpower and learn not to flight or fight when situation is not in your favaour but one has to ‘aware’
What is the difference between yoga and hot yoga? it’s just about the temperature of the environment?
It might facilitate things for vata types, and be counterproductive for pittas. It’s not this simple though, but what do you expect. This is an internet forum.
PS. My instructor is hot. Does that qualify for hot yoga ?
Hot yoga isn’t for me , I had attended a couple of times just for the sake of my favourate teacher but the hot make me felt faint and dehydrate, and was being told
afterward that hot yoga is harmful to heart, it’s true or not doesn’t matter as I firmly
decided this isn’t for me as I can’t enjoy a bit from it.
I’ve thought of attending a class to check it out, but I have asthma and activity in extremely hot or extremely cold temperatures can set it off, so I’ve been hesitant. I have heard mixed opinions on it, but I overwhelmingly hear positive.
I tried it recently, but I didn’t like it. At beginning, I enjoyed the feeling of deep relax after the class, but after some time I realized it’s not my cup of tea.
About heart - I don’t think it’s harmful for heart. There is increase in the function which could lead to hypertrophy if prolonged, but I think those classes are too short to induce serious hypertrophy. But hot yoga may be dangerous for people with underlying heart disease. Such periods of intense effort may trigger arrhythmia/infarction (especially if someone just started practice avoiding previously physical exercises).
