How is yoga good for your body and mind?

Like what are the scientific reasons. How can it help with arthritis, headaches, increase joy, concentration. Like what exactly happens in your body to improve you health.

Kori, this forum has been active since 2002–the current owner purchased the domain and the content just 6 months ago. There are over 7 years of sharing here and 500+ therapeutic threads on the forum, located both in the Q&A and in the Yoga Therapy sub-forums. If you search for any of your key words above, you will get so many fantastic threads. My recommendation is to look for the threads of my teacher, Mukunda, for whom this forum was originally established for and also, the more recent contributions of InnerAthlete’s, Lars Rimboch, Pandara, Willem and my own for recommendations given in the context [I]Yoga therapy [/I]and from our individual training in Yoga therapy[I]. [/I]But I recommend Mukunda’s threads, above the rest of us; and you will find those in the deeper pages of the forum.

I hope you will see the value of Techne’s encouragement in a different thread to include both the therapeutic benefits of the postures, as well as the contraindications. The Yoga Journal siteis a pretty good resource that will give you general information about many poses, but as Sri Tirumala Krishnamacharya did, and as he directed his own students to do, was to adapt any Yoga practices to the individual person.
