How many times in a week?

I have some yoga dvds, doing every day these workouts are right or…?

It really depends on the type of yoga you’re practicing and what’s right for your body.

I have been a practitioner of Hatha yoga for over fifteen years, and have tried many other kinds, including Bikram (hot) yoga. I found that at the height of my practice, a strenuous ashtanga/vinyasa practice every other day was about all my body wanted. Any more, and it felt too strained.

However, a gentle practice could be done every day.

Listen to your body, and it will tell you how much is enough.

Your question has to be split in two.

The first part is a physical question and has nothing whatsoever to do with Yoga. The human body needs time for recovery. Therefore, if you are doing the same “workout” (and I use the term loosely) every day your muscles are not given the repair opportunity they need. There’s nothing inherently “wrong” with your doing it every day. Just know that your recovery is limited and this will be a greater issue when the practice is more physically challenging or strenuous or if you are adept enough to tap into other muscles in the doing.

The second part deals with the discipline a student of yoga has in bringing themselves to the practice every day. Those who chose a repetitive practice have the benefit of familiarity but the absence of variety. The body does have a respond to variety. It enjoys different movements just as it thrives on different quality foods. Of course just like the foods the movements have to be wholesome.

Having a regular practice is a foundational element of a Yoga practice. However for a beginner it is certainly okay to do the practice three times per week.

If you had shared a bit more about the practice and your intentions it would have been far easier to craft a reply. What is above is very generalized.

Depends on if you do a vigorous practice or a more gentle one. There are several styles of yoga, and each one is different as to how challenging and demanding they are on the body.
I suggest if you do a vigorous practice, to alternate the next day with a gentle practice, then perhaps a vigorous one the day after that, to give your body time to recover from the challenging practice.
It’s completely up to you. There is no harm in practicing every day, and actually it is better to practice for 15 minutes a day than it is to practice 1 hr once or twice a week. Yoga is best when incorporated into your daily lifestyle.
