Life is like a river. Feelings are like a river. And the river must flow! to get to the ocean! Let the river flow (& rest) in freedom , and observe! This! is Yoga
Pranayam is an ancient technique of breath control. It is a tool to cleanse the body, mind and spirit. It should be practiced slowly, gently, with attention and awareness. You should take your time and progress slowly.
If you practice for a long time or with too much force, it may cause discomfort or even injury. According to yoga and also western science, the breathing exercises can bring up feelings and emotions that are trapped in the tissues of the body.
It is a good thing but you should know how to deal with it. Sometimes it may feel unpleasant but you should remember that pranayama is a great purification process which has been going on since ancient times.
Here's what I can suggest:
-
Don't do pranayam when you're really hungry or really full;
-
Have some healthy snack before practice;
-
Drink enough water during the day;
-
Don't do your asana practice right after pranayam session; don't do pranayam right after asana practice either - have some rest in between;
-
Practice in a place where you feel safe;
-
If you feel discomfort, stop practicing and relax for a while;
yer real good at balancing things &keeping them peaceful & flowing in the river of yoga (processes-training) which is nicer for the students, and their relationships. I guess u really work with Balance & of course the dynamic flow of yoga!
great stuff everybody-for sure. correct way beneficial, better than 'uncorrect practice... haha if practice unnecessarily irritates one and one is carelessly mean or rude to a co-worker, then that is definitely in the harmful category.. sooooo yah! all of the above practice/dos & avoids! Praise! great perspective!
