How to become hot yoga teacher?

Do I need to take a course specifically aimed towards hot yoga or can I take a 200 hr hatha yoga course? I practice and would like to teach hot yoga.

If you thinking for yoga as a profession than you have gotten hooked on yoga and have been practicing regularly for a few years, you may feel that you’d like to complete a teacher certification coursework. A lovely training program will deepen your practice and increase your knowledge of anatomy, philosophy, sequencing, and alignment. You can also check Mahatma Yoga Foundation, It is a non-profit organization built on the path of Universal Vedic teachings.

Comparing hot yoga with hatha yoga is simply ridiculous. Since your preference is to teach hot yoga, you should focus on inventing new hot techniques but remember yoga is just yoga…a way of life…nothing hot or cold about it.

No questions are ridiculous/stupid! The only reason I asked is because there are good and bad hot yoga teachers. For instance, the body builds it’s own heat in yoga by doing sun salutations or holding certain poses for length of time, but by heating the room artificially, the joints are more susceptible to damage and certain teachers don’t realize this and teach hot yoga the way they do in a non-artificially heated room and overheat the body that is already heated in this room by putting too much strain with excessive sun salutations, going too fast and forgetting about the breath and such and treating it like an aerobic (what’s the sense of this when you’re already at a sweating point or heart beating too fast?) than a moving meditation, when if the body is already heated there is no need for excessive sun salutations. So, I agree, yoga is yoga, although some can understand this differently forgetting that just doing postures is not yoga, but postural yoga, not yoga of the mind/spirit…not bhakti, not jnaana, not karma, ect. And all yoga is ha tha (balancing) unless put into a certain sequence like ashtanga, sivananda, bikram, or vinyasa.

But if one teaches hot yoga, I believe there should be safety precautions and instructions on how to properly heat the room (humidity/heat levels, and clean circulation). Not all yoga teachers/studios are alike or know what they are doing. It only seems westerners “invent” their own yoga. And without guidance, are you inventing techniques that are beneficial or damaging, as their are teachers that do not know some contraindications and do more damage to their students. There was a New York Times article about yoga being bad because the teachers had no direction and were causing harm to their students not knowing certain things like a person with cervical problems or high blood pressure shouldn’t do such things like headstands. :o

Great post dear. This is best information to become a yoga teacher. I also want to be a yoga teacher and instructor so this information is useful for me. Good work.

how to become hot yoga teacher? dress sexy and flirt?
But seriously , Bikram yoga has a certain set of postures , these postures are found in asthanga and hatha style yoga. But Yoga you should not forget is not just breathing and postures , so you must also learn the other aspects of yoga to fully understand and to be able to teach yoga. But as siro said :

As
Yoga isn’t something you go take a class for, become certified, and teach others.

You practice it out of your own desire and want to do it. It is a lifestyle. Only then can you successfully teach it to people.

After all, no amount of classes can suddenly make the body yoga ready. It takes time and conditioning. And you can’t be a Yoga Teacher if your body hasn’t been conditioned through spending a lot of time practicing and becoming flexible and sturdy.
Good luck with it
