Please let me know, how to attain the meditation mode quickly and yield optimal results from it. I am very much interested to perform meditation, but want to just know the way to practice it. Kindly help.
Nothing of worth is attained quickly.
Meditation is a process in a larger process intended for mindful human evolution.
It can not be microwaved to have in 4 minutes. Some days there seem to be no results. Other days we allow our ego to convince us we’ve scaled a mountain. It is likely that neither are true - and of course that both are true.
Go to http://www.aypsite.org
They’ve got a practice called Deep Meditation.
I’m gettting good results after only a month.
You just needt to do 10-20 mins, once or twice a day.
It’s a silent mantra meditaiton; It will re-tune your nervous system.
You’ll find all the information there.Rather than , me go into it.
They also cover all 8 limbs of yoga, someething you will never get in an asana class.
It’s like a turbo-charged type of meditation;you’ll get the same results in 10-20mins than possibly acouple of hours with other types of meditation.
My advise is to just stick with it. Like brushing your teeth.

You should find Deep Meditation will satisfy the above criteria.
Though there are different types of meditation sure, and different mantras and techniques, i could’nt really expand on this cos i neither have the experience or knowledge to comment.
The chap that operates that site has authored a little book and a course comprising of progressive lessons should you wish to follow, if you are so inclined.
It’s basically open-source horizontal transmission of (selected) traditional yoga teachings , and combined in an integrated system with an emphasis on what they call self-pacing a principle integral to their complete yoga system as the practices are powerful, but effective.
I suggest you go to the site to find out more.
Their are other yoga systems, traditions, schools, lineages.I could’nt really comment however.
Great News, there is a meditation drive-thru coming near you soon - you drive in, order, pay and then collect at the last window. Now wouldn’t that be great!
But seriously now, meditation is something you work on and at with dedication and commitment. You need a certain level of discipline and persistence to really stick to it and to do it no matter what. To start off, there are many threads on the Forum with wonderful advice on how to start your meditation practice, please search for them, you’ll find good and sound advice in all of them.
Hello yogakshema
It might take years, or lifes, depending on the person, to achieve a true state of meditation.
However there are disciplines, like hatha yoga, kundalini yoga, kriya yoga, tantra yoga, etc… that speed up your evolution and make you fit for true meditation in a single life.
From a kosha viewpoint, true meditation is achieved after “unlocking” your physical and pranic (life force) bodies. For that purpose, you need the yogas above mentioned.
So the answer is: There is no “quick” mean to do it, but you can speed it up.
Namaskar!
Thank you all for the valuable suggestions. I will collect all the information available in the forum and practice it regularly. Thank you all once again.
It has already been said, and the majority of my meditation is from Chinese martial arts, Qigong and my short side track into Zen, but there are no shortcuts.
Calming the mind can take a while and be rather annoying.
However, as one of my teachers told me, if you have thoughts that pop up don’t ignore them; acknowledge them other wise they will start screaming just to get your attention. Another view was to think of them as floating in boats on a river and you are sitting on the back watching them pass by. And my favorite was thinking of them as playful monkeys, the more you ignore them the louder they will get so don’t ignore them but don’t go play with them either. Just so acknowledge they are there and they will move on and go away

By exclusion of inaction and distraction.
Dear Friends,
Please be aware to watch yourself against illusion or your own materialization.
Seriously, I’m not making this up.
By exclusion of inaction and distraction.
This is taken from the Samkhya-Pravachana-Sutram 6.30.
It’s amazing how they just go into this position. I watched Beverley’s grooming video. I tried how she said to get them in the right position and Prajna immediatly becomes completely relaxed and will let me do anything. The only thing he is still afraid of is the Pet-a-cure and I am really afraid to use the clippers because it’s the only thing he won’t stay still for. When I was at the vet’s, there was a St. Bernard with a bandaged foot that I found out was infected because his owner had accidently cut too much That did not do much for my confidence :-).
Prajna is your dog? That’s awesome.
It can be escalated to a certain extent. Try confining your sitting posture, environment & mental health, it would certainly help you.
