I need to work on my posture (PICS)

how tall would i be if i work on my posture
im 5 foot 9 right now

and this is my body

Why did you edit the picture of yourself?

I gained about 2 centimeters (slightly less than an inch). (from 189 to 191)

I dare to say this as my posture was just like your’s.

But the benefit of a better posture is not that of height increase but much better endurance, and much better quality of life. That posture will lead to sciatic pain (if you do not already have that).

I also did light weight training. recommend strenghtening the abdominal and lower back muscles, opening the hips and hamstrings, especially the iliopsoas muscles. Avoid jogging, running as these “cement” a wrong posture.

I would presume the answer is:

5’ 9"

My guess is that you only need to work on your posture if you are currently experiencing discomfort. “If it ain’t broke , don’t fix it.”

From the structural yoga therapy (SYT) point of view - you have a curve in the lower back. Mukunda Stiles book suggests that you might benefit from strengthening the abdominal muscles / middle trapezius and stretching the lumbar erectors / psoas / hip flexors. A structural yoga therapist could help with this. The general asana recommendation would be upward stretched legs (urdhva prasarita padasana), navasana (boat), and reclining hero (supta virasana). Especially the reclining hero pose has some precautions - it is tough on the knees and lower back. Unless you are an experienced yogi, don’t do any of this on your own - please consult an experienced yoga teacher or yoga therapist in your area. He or she will adapt the asanas to your individual requirements.

But most important - don’t aim for height, but aim for health.
