I'm searching

I’ve been managing my blog womens-sports-wear, where I share about all different sport types as well as yoga and been stuck with a few deep and meaningful questions lately.

Other than the exercise which I know is good for you why are you doing yoga? What do you get out of it on a daily basis?
Why would you encourage someone else to start with yoga?
What spiritual impact does it have on you (if it does at all)?

What makes yoga sport different from running/other sports?

Would be great to hear a few people’s views on this.

This is my combo answer for what I get out of yoga on a daily basis, and it’s spiritual impact on me. Yoga helps me to clear out the crap of my everyday life and connect with my centre- my true self. Through this connection with my self I feel a deeper connection with the earth and with all other living beings.

No, I would not encourage someone else to do yoga, unless they already showed an interest in it and were asking for encouragement/ questions. That being said, all of my close not-yoga-related friends have done yoga since hanging out with me. Not because I told them to, but I believe that people can see the benefits- physical and emotional and spiritual, etc that yoga can bring and are curious. My husband, who before meeting me would have laughed at the idea of doing yoga, is now regular practitioner! And I never once said, “You should try yoga” or anything of the like. I guess I do encourage without saying so in words… But not intentionally. So my answer to that is in general, kind of.

I believe that yoga is different from other sports because of its combining the breath with the movement. That’s my short answer. One of my old teachers would say, if your not breathing while you are doing yoga, it’s just gymnastics! The combo breath with movement brings a centering, a focus, a meditation… this “yolking” is what I believe to me a big part of practicing yoga.

That’s just my opinion! I didn’t want to go too long so I kept it relatively short. I hope this was helpful for you!
