India for meditation

Hi everybody

I am here back after a while. I would like to do my meditation in India for one year or more. I prefer a warm of part of India.
Any suggestion for a good place? I am not keen on yoga but I keen on meditation.

Thanks for any reply

Ivana - Is there a particular style or school of meditation that you feel drawn to?

mindfullnes meditation of breath, vipassana

I will recommend my birthplace - Pune. Though it is not as serene and laid back as it used to be, still retains its even weather - not too hot, not too cold. It has comforts of modern life and secluded rustics not far away.

But that’s not the reason I am recommending Pune. There are many Yoga masters almost hidden from the public eye who will be willing to help you if you manage to reach them with all earnest. Good luck.

Have you researched getting into any of the vipassana centers in the South? There are many at their website. Otherwise, what is your budget for accommodations? Did you want to stay at an ashram or study on your own with a private teacher?

which vipassana centres, do you mean Goenka? I am not sure about ashram or my own with a private teacher
Budget is a small one:(

Ivana- is that not the vipassana you are referring to? They have many centers in south India, and I hear they are all donation based. If you have previous experience, I believe you can make arrangements for longer stays. Linked here.

If you are planning to stay for a year, it would be a cheap option. Perhaps some others here may know of smaller places you can stay for very cheap or donation also.

Exactly there are meditation centres where are courses in Vipassana Meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka. I was in Chengannur for 10 days course.
