Inflexible after 3 yoga classes in the morning. Why?

I recently visited one of the yoga center in Singapore to learn more from other teachers. Due to short duration on stay , i attended the earliest class at 7am and did 3 classes back to back for 3 days.

Its normal that the body gets tighter in the morning. After a few rounds of sun salutation , my hamstring are all warm up and i am more flexible through out then. What surprise me is that, i found body were very stiff, inflexible, especially around the pelvic and hips area during my 3rd classes. Should it be more flexible after 2 hours of working out all the muscle of the body?

Anyone feeling the same? please share

That’s quite a bit of asana practice and I suppose the results, if we can call them that, would vary depending on the person AND on the nature of each of the three practices.

Either a) this is just your body and its experience or b) three classes is too much, or c) the nature of the three classes do not support suppleness in the physical body when joined together.

When I teach a 90 minute class, the end of the class is designed to allow the student’s nervous system to shift into a parasympathetic state. A class following that would begin by moving the persons nervous system toward a sympathetic state, then of course end as mentioned above with the cycle repeating for the third session. It may simply be agitating your nervous system.

The sun salutations should warm up the body nicely for the other asanas but much depends on how tight you are in the mind or whether you are breathing properly. Yoga is a mind-body-spirit system and the goal is to harmonise all three for the greatest benefit. If you’re doing all the yoga “moves” but your mind is elsewhere and your breathing erratic you may still feel tight at the end of a class.

Thanks for your reply. As those 3 classes flow and style were all different from Power to Yin Yoga , i guess i was over stretch during the first 2 classes and my mind just shut down at the 3rd class. I could not quite feel my body anymore as i was so tired at the 3rd hour.

I also find that sometime our body will be more flexible in one day than another.

Another thing i found myself feeling different is diziness. I went to a doctor and found that my BP is 160/90 .Medication was not given as i am too young to go on medication , so i control on food and still practicing yoga. The BL drop to 130/90 at the 6th day. However, sometime , i do feel a little dizziness during the day even if i am not doing anything. Is this got to do with the asana that i am doing ( inversion ) .? I do not hold on headstand very long ,probably just a 1 min. Should i stop practicing inversion and monitor my condition ?

Hail Jesus! Full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed is thy name above all names, and blessed is thy mother Mary among women, holy Jesus son of God pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen!

Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us!

My guess is that Jesus would be quite miffed by those claiming to spread “his” word without fully living or comprehending his teachings whatsoever.

But thank you for the 12 identical posts which will surely get you banned from the forum.
