Integral Yoga of Sri Aurobindo

I picked Aurobindo's The Synthesis of Yoga at the library one day in about 1976. It was way over my head. Maybe about 10 years ago I cam a cross it again and started from page one reading very slowly. I ended up reading all 900 or so pages though it took a few years, Best thing I ever did. It was like a prolonged meditation. So then I read The life Divine. I have to say that Sri Aurobindo had been my man to go to for in depth understanding of reality. Finding him has been like finding a hidden treasure.

Is anyone else here interested in discussing his views on yoga?

Yoga is a form of physical, mental and spiritual exercise that can help you relax and improve your health. Here are some benefits of yoga:

Relaxation

Yoga can help you relax better than any other form of exercise. You will be able to achieve this by practicing yoga several times a week for at least 30 minutes each session. This type of activity has been shown to reduce stress levels in people who practice it regularly.

Better health

Yoga is also known for helping you to stay in shape and maintain good health by improving flexibility and strength, as well as relieving stress and anxiety. You will feel more energetic after doing yoga, which can help you to participate in physical activities that are good for your heart health, such as jogging or running around the block.

Improved breathing techniques

A study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that doing yoga exercises daily improved participants' respiratory function by up to 20 percent over six months compared with those who did only stretching exercises without any yoga-inspired techniques.

Thank you, Johnpeter. Aurobindo's view of yoga goes far beyond Hatha Yoga. And I have recently found a wonderful commentary on his great poem. Savitri.
