I think it is relevant to point out that the article approaches yoga from the perspective of yoga in New York, which may be very similar to yoga in L.A., however it may not represent yoga more broadly. Though obviously, to say there is quite a bit of capitalism or commerce around the industry is a bit of a no-brainer.

There will always be people who exploit something for their own gain above and beyond what they need to fulfill their dharma. This was true of “natural” foods and yoga is no exception. Where there are dollars to be made, corruption, greed, and exploitation are not far behind.

Agreed. I wasn’t saying it was the way to go, just an interesting approach.
