Hi everyone, I started enjoying yoga about two weeks ago and I’m curious to see if anyone can shed some light on what I am experiencing.
I purchased a beginner's DVD and I have been practicing at least three times a week. (I'm significantly overweight and would simply not be comfortable participating in group or private instruction.) The DVD has a beginner's level for person's with limited flexibility which I find challenging, but do-able! I never press myself to do moves or poses that cause pain or serious discomfort.
During the course of the DVD there are a couple of comments related to certain poses or moves that help eliminate toxins, relieve digestive concerns, etc. Well, in the past week I've experienced a couple of health issues and I'm wondering if they are related to a release of "toxins" or if it's just a coincidence.
I have always been prone to increaed levels of uric acid which can lead to attacks of gouty arthritis. I haven't had an attack in at least five years--probably longer, but suffered a mild attack earlier this week. I also have a completely unrelated symptom that is just so odd! For the past three days, both of my ears (the outer areas only) have been red, slightly swollen, slightly itchy and warm to the touch!
I would appreciate any thoughts. Could these symptoms be connected to my yoga or is it just a coincidence that they occurred at this time?
