Is there any accountability (yoga associations)?

I hope I can find some helpful counsel. I became a student at a new school that popped up in my Vancouver (Canada) neighbourhood called Breathing Room Yoga, run by Tarynn Liv Parker. I absolutely loved it; after my initial run in summer 2005, I was so pleased I purchased a $180 pass good for 20 classes. I used only a few of the classes, then went away for winter holidays and came back to find the school closed, a sign on the door with an incorrect phone number, and the website deleted.

I have heard nothing from anyone, and the worst part is by googling her name I now find she has relocated to Paris (with my money, and I imagine, a bunch of other people’s!) Efforts to contact her have been ignored.

My question is, is there any kind of yoga teacher association or licensing board that she can be held accountable to? She has travelled all over the world, and I’m inclined to think she has pulled this kind of fraud before. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else!

That was basically all the money I had to spare. Because of her, I can no longer afford to take yoga classes. Anyone with any advice is much appreciated.

Namaste.
