Sport involves compitition, yoga is not a compitition between individuals. But you can see it as a compitition against avidya. Sport also involves play. Yoga is also play in the form of divine leela between atman and paramatman.

That’s a great question. From my experience, yoga doesn’t quite fit into the traditional sports mold, but it does demand strength, flexibility, focus, and discipline—just like many sports do. When I first started, I treated it like a mellow workout, but over time I realized how much mental stamina it builds too—holding balance in Tree Pose is its own kind of triumph! I like to unwind afterward by watching something light on fubotv while my body settles into that post-yoga glow. So maybe yoga isn’t a sport in the usual sense—but it absolutely brings that athlete-level dedication, just in a more inward, peaceful way.
