Issue with my eyes and health

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has any insight into the following based on yoga principles?

I worked on computers in graphic design for about 6 years. I was spending 8+ hours a day staring quite intensely at the computer screen due to working with graphics and fine detail. The rest of my life became quite sedentary… not much exercise.

Now my posture is not very good - forward head posture, tilted hips, curvy back. Im pretty sure also that my nervous system is wound a bit high as i have also been dealing with stress and anxiety, mostly due to the physical discomfort/symptoms and searching for a cure all. I am working on the posture with a chiropractor and looking at getting into yoga.

Specifically though i have noticed that my eyes seem to get quite tense in vision and say for instance if i am in a supermarket and walk along the isles with my vision darting from product to product i start to feel dizzy… as if my head/brain is getting overloaded with visual signals.

I have not been working in graphic design now for the last 2 years and try to limit my computer usage but still get these symptoms…

Does anyone have any advice on the possible cause?

What can I do to try and correct the issues?

One thing that shouldn’t hurt and might help – do you give yourself time to experience darkness and silence? If you are getting overloaded, some time to unwind might be what you need.

i do wonder if because of my occupation regarding staring at artificial light for so long combined with the obsession of trying to find some kind of cause and cure to the symptoms… that it is because of an overload…

but the catch 22 is that because of becoming so inner focused on my physical health and any symptoms i assume that what i need is to outer focus more… so sitting in silence may just allow my head to go running again… i dunno… difficult one!

Ok, find an outer focus that’s relaxing and non-artificial. See if you local animal shelter will let you play with puppies once a week. (call it “volunteering to help socialize” the animals.)

Ajna chakra is in charge of our vision. Please find some method for purification of this chakra.

There is an Eye Series we use for such things in Purna Yoga™ however it’s not an “over the internet” sort of thing. It does however incorporate some traditionally used Chinese exercise which may be google-able on the internet.
