[QUOTE=yonita;76059]Hi
I’ve heard time and time again that the absence of joy leads to suffering. Why is this so? I can’t find this in my own experience so I’m wondering if anyone else has something to share that may help me understand this.
The absence of joy for me can be neutral. Which isn’t suffering. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Yonita,
Firstly, comfort and discomforts, activity and relaxation, etc are coexisting and complementary to each other. They do exist.
What matters with regards above quest is:
Whether your consciousness is clouded by suffering or bringhtened by joy.
Is your unconditioned personality (the way you are as an individual/real self) is also experiencing brightness and warmth of the Sun of Joy besides the conditioned personality.
The absence of joy for you can be Neutral. But… is your unconditioned Self/real personality is also neutral … this quest.
Thirdly, it is not possible that there is total abscence of joy in you/your life rather there is possibility that the same is average or below average in you, but, may be, not very.
