Asuri,
“There is no shortage of charlatans out there”
It is true. And yet the charlatan in your own mind has continued playing it’s games for millenia. There are those who have been in the presence of an awakened one, and yet had remained in a deep sleep. And sometimes it has even happened that one who is in a deep sleep was capable of triggering an awakening within oneself. In either case, the matter is settled through your own eye on the forehead.

Good question. It seems like that five Kleshas revolv around these few things like information-knowledge-wisdom-transformation

So, you accuse me of being a charlatan? Or are you saying that my perception of charlatanism is only in my own mind? The meaning is unclear. Please bear in mind, I never preach.
"has continued playing it’s games for millenia. "
That would make me very old. You know this…how?
“There are those who have been in the presence of an awakened one, and yet had remained in a deep sleep.”
Hmm…who was this awakened one, and who remained asleep in his presence?
“And sometimes it has even happened that one who is in a deep sleep was capable of triggering an awakening within oneself.”
And who did this happen to? Was this the same sleeper as above or somebody different?
“In either case, the matter is settled through your own eye on the forehead.”
Is this a method of determining who is a charlatan? Through the third eye?
This is a very old trick, speaking in riddles and deliberate ambiguity. If nobody can figure out he’s talking about, then he must smarter, and deeper, and higher than everybody. Or its just a bunch of meaningless drivel. You decide, newbie.
Asuri,

I agree. And you are one of them! Listening to you on youtube would convince anyone with a healty IQ level and discernment that you are full of BS. What tipped my appraisal of you against you was your STUPID comment about inviting a lady to have a “turkey dinner”.
You can have an IQ of a blooming million, but if you don’t feel the pain of others as if it was your own, you are NOTHING AT ALL. If you don’t feel the horror and pain and helplessness of creatures we abuse and kill by the second, to me, my dear AmirMourad, you ARE NOTHING AT ALL.
My oh my, is Asuri attacking somebody else now?
Do not mind Asuri Amir, he loves to attack people. He recently called me psychotic and a terrorist and now he is calling you a charlatan. His statements about me are just as valid as his statements about you i.e., not valid at all
I have noted one thing since I have been on the Yoga forums. That despite the fact that this is a Yoga forum and people here are Yoga pracitioners, personal attacks is a very common activity here. These attacks are made for something as trivial as disagreeing with another person. There also seems to be a strong jealousy for people who are intelligent, knowledgable and educated. Such as yourself Amir
In any case I really enjoyed your discourses and think you speak very well. I do not see eye to eye with you on everything, but it is clear your knowledge is impressive.
elisabeth,
“Listening to you on youtube would convince anyone with a healty IQ level and discernment that you are full of BS.”
That is fine, but being as unconscious and fanatic as you are, I do not consider your perceptions to be of any value.
"What tipped my appraisal of you against you was your STUPID comment about inviting a lady to have a “turkey dinner”.
It seems one has had trouble maintaining mindfulness when reading what I had said about the matter earlier.
“but if you don’t feel the pain of others as if it was your own, you are NOTHING AT ALL. If you don’t feel the horror and pain and helplessness of creatures we abuse and kill by the second, to me, my dear AmirMourad, you ARE NOTHING AT ALL.”
This in itself shows that one may be as far away from a compassionate intelligence as possible. Otherwise, it would have been impossible to become entangled in this kind of fanaticism, which has only clouded your perception a million times fold. The very quality of compassion is such, that it awakens immense clarity to one’s vision. But somehow you have this idea that simply to do something as superficial as remain vegetarian, or commit “good” acts, is compassion. That is not compassion, these are just various cunning ways to nourish your ego and deceive yourself.
Asuri,
“Or are you saying that my perception of charlatanism is only in my own mind? The meaning is unclear.”
The only thing which is capable of deceiving oneself is one’s own ignorance.
“Please bear in mind, I never preach.”
If you have come to a transformation, then you should speak about it. Seeing the deep unconsciousness of man, which at this pace is drifting towards it’s own suicide, to remain silent would be a great disservice to those who have the potential of awakening.
"has continued playing it’s games for millenia. "
That would make me very old. You know this…how?"
It was symbolic. It simply means a very long time. One perhaps knew this.
“This is a very old trick, speaking in riddles and deliberate ambiguity”
Or, you are pretending not to understand.
Surya,
Thank you. : )
I do not mind Asuri at all. In fact I enjoy his presence. And through his attacks, perhaps he is simply trying to compensate for certain fears and insecurities.

Interesting discussion on this forum…not sure, in which category this on going discussion in this forum falls into… Avidya, Asmita, Raga, Dvesha, Abhinivesha ?
Can anyone comment on effects of afflictions to Yama(Yamas)?
I really find everyone’s comments interesting. After reading the comments I went back and watched Amir’s presentation again. While I don’t agree with with all that Amir shared, I don’t feel at all he comes from the place of ego as suggested by some. If someone has something profound to share and has the ability to share it, why not? To me it is a gift.

I don’t think he comes from a place of ego, I think he’s insane. In a roundabout way, he has called himself a buddha, an enlightened being, an awakened one, and he really believes it. It makes me want to puke.
“Can anyone comment on effects of afflictions to Yamas”
Most of the yamas and niyamas of the yogic systems are simply working towards this, to help dissolve various psychological hindrances which are preventing one’s awakening. These are all just various devices to help create an inner atmosphere which is prepared for transformation. But one should keep in mind that when we are speaking of something like the kleshas, we are speaking very generally. Because what may become a poison in one context, may become medicine in another. Ordinarily, it is thought that something like greed is a hindrance. But in certain situations, greed can temporarily become a stepping stone for one’s expansion. If a man like Gautama Buddha was not greedy enough to find a way beyond the sufferings of the mind, he would have never left his life as a prince to seek the Way. And as far as awakening is concerned, people have either been too greedy or not greedy enough for it. Neither is fear in itself a hindrance, there are times when even fear is capable of assisting one along the path. That is what triggered one Zen master, Hakuin, to inquire as deeply as possible into his own being. When he was a young boy, he had witnessed a play in which a Buddhist priest became attacked, killed by some criminals and then found himself to be in hell. And this struck his mind like a blade through his being. Because if even this Buddhist cannot escape from hell, how about himself ? And he became tortured by the question, with an immense fear of hell. That was the catalyst which caused him to inquire and find out whether there is something beyond the sufferings of life, whether there is in fact anything in one’s being which can be called deathless and birthless.
It is important not to jump to conclusions about these kleshas, they are just an intellectual model, a skillful means.
@Surya Deva
There you go again, trying to sully my reputation with lies. To set the record straight, Here’s what you said:
Here’s what I said:
I hope the counter-terrorism people see this. Then again, they might just conclude that SD is a delusional psychotic and not worthy of their attention.
Asuri,
“I don’t think he comes from a place of ego, I think he’s insane. In a roundabout way, he has called himself a buddha, an enlightened being, an awakened one, and he really believes it. It makes me want to puke.”
I would not be speaking of the matter at all unless it was out of my own direct experience. And in fact, my work is not yet complete. Just as there are many depths and intensities of meditation, there are also various depths and intensities of “enlightenment”. You may like it or dislike it, it is absolutely irrelevant. But there is nothing spectacular about it. There is not a single person here who is not already a Buddha. And if I have come to realize my own Buddha-Nature, it is not because I am special or unique in any way. Anybody who is willing to invest the time, effort, and energy into the work of the expansion of consciousness is capable of realizing themselves. In fact, it may not even require such a long time, it may happen as a flash of lightning in a single moment if one’s receptivity is deep enough. A man like Ramana Maharishi, without any training whatsoever, became awakened in just a few minutes after initiating a certain process of direct observation. And whether I have come to my awakening or not, is absolutely irrelevant as far as your own being is concerned.
Asuri,
"My hobby is debunking B.S. artists. "
Then if you are going to do it properly, transform it into an art.

In the more philosophical portion of his discourse, Patanjali states that the means of overcoming klesas is cultivation of the opposites. In my view, the yamas and niyamas are concrete methods that implement the philosophy. If we are in the grip of klesas, then we’re not practicing the yamas and niyamas. If we are practicing, then in time the grip of the klesas becomes diminished

Why is it that you feel the need to give me direction? Don’t you know it’s considered bad form to offer unsolicited advice? Do you know what they say about free advice? It’s worth what you pay for it.
Asuri,
“Why is it that you feel the need to give me direction?”
That is impossible.
“unsolicited advice? Do you know what they say about free advice?”
It was not advice. But certainly it was unsolicited. I am not in the least bit interested in your formalities.
