Knee problems

Just this past Wednesday, I was teaching a yoga class and I hurt my knee. I was doing pigeon pose and my back leg (staight behind me), which was my right leg, the knee cap slipped to the outside of my leg. Needness to say, it hurt pretty bad. After a few moments, it slipped back into place. I am tender now and really afraid to hurt it again. Earlier in class I was having a lot of trouble with balance poses on that side. I figure the slip happened because something was slightly amiss with my knee and then I applied pressure on the kneecap from the hard floor.

I am in the process of looking for a brace that I can use and still practice yoga. Any advice here? Do you know of any good braces that work in protecting the knee during yoga?

I of cource plan to take it slow, be careful and do rehabilitation exercises.

If you have destabilized the knee cap I’d suggest a visit with a skilled therapeutic teacher to customize an asana practice, if you are so inclined to have one while the knee is unstable.
