I am 31 years old and I have been doing Power Yoga at home from past five months (from DVD- MTV Power Yoga), so far everthing was great but recently I started feeling some problem with my knees. Everytime stand up or sit down I will hear this cracking sound and some pain too. Am I doing something wrong? Your views will be highly appreciated.
Listen to Hubert…you are overdoing it, find a teacher rather who can gradually take you through it and who can adjust the programme to suit you best.
From this information that you provide (quoted below) I do not feel it is appropriate to draw a definitive conclusion within a yogic context.
The three facts that you offer; that you are doing power yoga for five months, that your knee joints make noise, and that there is some pain, is simply not enough to determine that you are overworking, doing damage, or that the issue with your knees (regardless of its severity) comes from your asana practice at all.
In asana practice (as it has been tought to me) it is appropriate to over-engineer safety. There are, for each asana, certain alignment concerns. Frankly speaking, power yoga is executed at such a rate that engineering safety is quite difficult. Knee alignment in standing poses must be addressed to protect the ligaments of the joint. Some very good teachers can do some of this in the power genre but generally speaking the pace of such classes does not lend itself to the degree of safety that prevents injury.
My teacher would say FFTUCS; feel free to use common sense. In this case that might mean backing off your practice to make a determination as to what in your life is getting at your knees. It might be your practice, the weather, work, your diet etcetera.
Once you determine what is effecting your knees then you can better decide how to move forward, even if that “forward” means not doing that ssort of yoga in favor of something more alignment-based.
Additionally, knees represent an inflexibility to move forward and grow in our lives and yoga (of many sorts) can place us in a position to evaluate the self such that fears about our growth emerge (for us to deal with).

Looking back, I used to workout on Elliptical and that time too I had this same problem. Also if I wear heels 3-4 days in row then also I will start feeling pain in my knees.
Could it be something wrong with the way I walk or I put my weight on my knees?

It can have loads of reasons.
What hubert said is rigth look for a good yoga teacher and don`t overdo it.
May be a physiotherapsit can also help you finding out if in your pose anything is causing the problems you have.
