Kriya yoga information

Hi everybody!
I live in London UK
I have been searching for a kriya yoga teacher for months! I was surprised with the secrecy involved around the practice! I visited the SRF centre and I felt that I had to join a church in order to learn kriya yoga. There were also some travelling teachers who would stay in London for a few days give group initiations and then go. This made me think how can someone learn it in 2 days? What about corrections? Through out the internet there were people supporting the idea that their tradition is the only true one!

At some point I asked the universe to give me a hint! A few hours later, while reading Lahiri Mahasaya’s correspondance with his disciples I had an unknown word “kutastha” and I did a google search. The top result led me straight in to the first book of Ennio Nimis, where he describes the first set of practices. What a discovery! Simple and clear descriptions! I gradually started to practice them! At the moment I practice the first set and it is great!

People say that there is nothing like a real teacher infront of you following your progress, pointing your weaknesses, and teaching you the practice! But until such a person appears in my life, perhaps it would never happen, I am very happy going on like this. I still keep my eyes and ears open though! I do not know why I really write this. Perhaps to point to a direction to people in a similar situation like mine!
Be well!

Kriya Yoga courses are taught at Mandala Yoga Ashram in Wales.

Hi Iason,

Good to hear you have read some of Ennio Nimis’book. I find it clear cut and all parts of his book is very informative. He has illustrations as well which can be of help too.

You will also enjoy, Kriya Secrets Revealed, by J.C. Stevens.

This link has free downloads of three good kriya yoga books:

Let me know if you start going through them (I read them a year or two ago)

Just from reading the website, it sounds like kriya has become the domain of self serving gurus. Sounds like it would be hard to find an authentic teacher. I wonder why Ennio himself does not train a few? Maybe he has become so disillusioned by the whole guru mentality. One thing that did strike me though was the obvious anger in his writing, the way he wails on everyone from sadhus to gurus to people who email him… It doesn’t seem especially serene or enlightened of him. It actually makes me doubt the supposed “ultimate” status of Kriya, which itself is the basis of the whole secrecy bit.
Just my first impressions, for what they’re worth.

This comes to no surprise to me honestly.

I also would suggest the Mandala Ashram in Walesh or in London you can contact the Satyananda centre in Clapham, I’m not sure if they teach it there, but you can try.
