I am wondering why kundalini isn’t mentioned in the ashtanga yoga community? I do realize that the students are informed about the cleansing of the nervesystem, enlightment and connection with God etc… Are they just other words for kundalini? I am asking because I never once in my four years of practising ashtanga yoga mysore style have learned about what kundalini really is, and this despite the fact that I have practised mysore under instruction by highly authorized teachers.
We all have different intentions with our private yoga practise. Personally my intention are not of the pure spiritual kind. It helps me release emotional pain, stabilize my mood, be kind and keep my body strong and healthy. I started practising without being fully aware of the goal of yoga, I think most do, and it’s here I see a potential danger. I am afraid to release my kundalini with my practise, I am a very sensitive person, and are positive that my practise has increased my intuition in many ways, but I know that I, and many other, are not ready to release the kundalini energy. This is also the reason why I don’t meditate. I have met people who have activated their kundalini when actually not intented and desired.
So I quess I am asking those of you who teach, why isn’t the kundalini explicit mentioned? And I am also interesting in hearing about people who have raised their kundalini with ashtanga.
