L2 spur

Relates to a 38-year-old female student who has a spur growth at L2 and prefers not to be operated on. The pressure of the spur against disc is producing severe pain and preventing normal activity. What recommendations do you suggest?

I would recommend she do the arthritis diet from Indra Devi for full 10 days, which can provide some relief for her. If you do not have it I can send as email attachment. In addition she should look into having the Pancha Karma series of Ayurvedic therapy, done ideally for 7 days in a row. This process can rejuvenate the body and remove obstructions from internal organs, which may be the source of the bone spur.

As far as yoga practice I highly recommend she deepen her practice of pranayama and meditation (minimum of half hour, ideally an hour). Asanas should be always accompanied by extending (decompressing) the spine first then moving. All poses to be held without discomfort. If there is discomfort then they are to be avoided.
