Laughter Yoga

Has anyone tried Laughter Yoga as a practice? If so, what was your experience like?

Thanks,

The Great Lesson - the movie that transforms

hahahahahahahahahah no ive not tried it. But laughing is great , generally

I “ended up” one time in north carolina at the yoga session with Laughing Hawk. Bunch of pot-heads giggling every time he says something like “now laugh to your kidneys”:))))

I was first introduced to laughter yoga when I began my teacher training. Patrick Welage, a certified Laughologist, led us in a class. In the beginning, we didn’t know what to think of this “happy guy”, but we soon got the point! Patrick got his training from Dr. Madan Kataria who started Laughter Yoga. We are so lucky to have him here in Cincinnati!

It starts with some pranayam work and a bit of gentle asana. Then, as a group, there are exercises we do together to promote laughter. In the beginning we were told to force the laughter, but soon after we didn’t need to. It was so much fun and good for the soul! I had Patrick lead a Laughter Yoga class at the studio I teach. Everyone loved it! We all commented how great and light we felt! Our breathing was better and our energy soared!

I bought the book, “Laugh for no reason” by Dr. Kataria (from Mumbai) and the DVD with the exercises for a christmas gift to my family. They love it!

Good for the heart and good for the soul! Not to mention your abs get a workout from all the laughing!

Interesting idea. I did conduct laughter club back home and some times i do "Induce " laughter at the end of my Yoga classes but it is funny to group Laughter with the pose. I am curious. I strongly believe in traditional style of Yoga and it’s serenity. Laughter can be added to the class but not simultaneously.
I look forward to a Laughter Yoga class to see where so i stand!

It is not a typical yoga class at all. Patrick just did a few poses and some pranayam to prepare us. The rest of the class was not anything typical of a yoga class. The only pose I incorporate laughter with is Lion’s pose. Seems logical to laugh after doing that!
