Since I last flew to India, end of August 2006, after sitting 40-55 minutes in Svastikasana or 20-30 minutes in Padmasana, I have pain in my outer R leg (butocks, thigh or lateral knee). Previously it was in the lateral foot, but this has subsided. It has improved since I added parsvottanasana, gomukhasana and janusirshasana and the wall groin stretch to my usual practice of garudasana, trikunasana, sirshasana ( 15-20Minutes), paschimotasana 3-5minutes), chakrasana, and yoga mudra. The other postures I hold 12 breaths or one minute (on each side if indicated). I also intermittently do soorya namascar, vrkshasana, sethu’sana, sarvangasana, matsyasana, salabhasana, dhanurasana, etc as time permits. I am assuming there is trouble with abducters and external rotatiors of my R hip with tightness of internal rotators and adductors. My Left hip and leg are well mannered.
Sadhana also includes japa, dharana, dhyana, pranayama, svadhyaya (Gita and Yoga Vasishta in sanskrit)
I am now over 60 and have been a yoga teacher for over 30 years, Sivananda tradition.
Any suggestions?
