Levitation!

I have been attending this 48 day yoga course with a enlightened yoga master Paramahamsa Nithyananda. It’s my first sort of intensive hata yoga course and I lost 15 pounds in the first 8 days! More than that I saw a bunch of people in the class levitate in the first few days of the program! Pretty amazing - my first direct experience with some of the Siddi powers. Thought this group might find it interesting. Here are some videos from the program.

Video: Go to youtube and search for "nithyananda levitation"
Photos are available at their site dhyanapeetam dot org

Have anyone else on this group had experiences with these kind of Siddhis? Would be great to share experiences…

Hilarious.

Wow, real levitation or this jumping in lotus pose? I tried to find some videos on youtube but found only jumping (and this funny trick some guys do with a hidden structure holding you up). Have you seen someone suspended in air for longer time?

Is this what livitation is? hummm…

OK, no one is stupid enough to think levitation is a plausible.

Well have you guys read ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’?..it comes highly recommended.

I did not get very far, as I just could not bring myself to believeing any of it…

This is not jumping in lotus pose. If you try it yourself you will see how difficult or impossible it is to do. These were just ordinary people like you and me and not trained acrobats or athletes. This was just a week into the course. I am told that they will get to spend longer time in the air. There is a newer video titled “art of levitation by nithyananda” that has more footage that shows how high the folks move without any effort on their faces. Look at the parts after the 10minute mark…

@omamana - Yes I have read the “Autobiography of a yogi” during my teens. It was an amazing book. But I found it hard to believe till I actually saw some of these things happening for real.

This is ridiculous. This is just jumping. How could anyone in their right mind think (and see) that this non-sense is anything more than bouncing up and down. If you want do some bouncing that is of any use, take your pants off and jump into bed with your girl.

David Blaine does the most awesome levitation trick I have ever seen.

Uhm… this video quite clearly shows them pushing themselves up using their hands/fists and legs… and faces straining with effort.

This technique seems similar to what the TM organisation markets as “yogic flying”, i.e.: jumping in lotus pose.

Sure, it would take quite a bit of concentration to do this, but I’d hesitate to call this a siddhi.

I checked out this video. But still I saw just jumping up. I will try it tomorrow after class (I need to warm up to do it). But even if there are some forces not related with muscle work it is still jumping. Supernatural and very efficient but just jumping. So to be precise it should be called “yogic jumping” not levitation.

Have you seen someone advanced in this practice doing this “levitation” or were just told?

acnaren, it is my opinion that some things are best kept to yourself. Did levitation happen? I dont care to figure that out for you, nor do I care for you to prove or disprove that to me. . by posting that here you open yourself up to skepticism. Have i seen strange things, yes, do i care to share? on select occasions it may come up in conversations, but as many yogis say, the only true sidhi is love, the rest can be distractions. play as you wish.

I’m one of the people experiencing levitation on the Living Enlightenment Process that is going on right now in India. I experienced levitation through TM years ago, but this experience is different. Lighter. For the skeptics, you might want to actually read the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the founder of Yoga. The 3rd book describes the siddhis and how they develop. Yogic levitation is one of the eight primary siddhis. It doesn’t generally manifest completely all at once, but develops through stages. The first stage is a kind of extraordinarily light bouncing. The experience itself is so blissful and energetic it usually takes you out of the experience and you can’t maintain it. Nithyananda is working with us to slow down the process so that the initial levitation is short, the air time is longer, and the landing is short and smoother.

Nithyananda is not actually teaching us levitation as such. We’re not using the levitation sutra as described in the Yoga Sutras. This experience of levitation is a by-product of other processes designed to bring enlightenment.

This is an extraordinary time in history. Nithyananda is an amazing enlightened Being and he is helping us directly. Anyone who has an opportunity should watch a few dozen of his videos on YouTube and you will immediately recognize his power and clarity in bringing the truths of yoga as never before. Search YouTube for “LifeBlissFoundation”.

This hopping, even with legs in sukhasana, is difficult. Primarily because I have no abdominal muscles to pull my lower half towards me as I frog-hop my upper body towards the sky. I tried it on a rug on a tile & concrete floor though, which I am sure has psychological play in my ability to jump high (what goes up must painfully come down). I need a bouncy mattress like they have in the video.

Anyway. This video would be interesting to watch in real time, rather than slowed down.

This 'enlightened' swami has fallen from grace after videos of his having sex with his girl disciples surfaced.

That was four minutes of insanely boring video, but I can imagine the gaggles of scandalized Tamil women glued to their tv sets, gasping in shock and horror when it aired. He, or she must be really big in Tamil Nadu to warrant a five minute segment on the nightly news. I bet the actress’ fall from grace was much harder than his was. I feel bad for her.

The video was extremely boring. I was expecting some action!
Anyways, whereas a part of me wants to believe that these siddhis of levitation might be possible, there has not been any modern day video recording of it. All I have seen is this hopping around.

I am not saying levitation is true or false since I did levitate once when I was in high school? but only for a moment? that moment where you stop your upward trajectory only to be followed by plummeting downward? this was of course after being thrown from my dirt bike

I am one of the participants of the 48day course that is being offered by the Living Enlightened Master, Swami Paramahamsa Nithyananda. I, along with my husband and son and 200 other participants from about 10 countries are attending. We watched some of the participants levitating, not jumping ! with our own eyes.
During the process of balancing the pranas, one of the by-products was levitation. If the skeptics here feel skeptic, that’s ok. This was not meant for you, obviously.
We are sharing the deep, intense Joy that happens when we are in the presence of an Enlightened Master with those of the community that understands all about a Master/Guru.

lostontheway ! You should already be knowing by now, since you seem to have paid only certain amount of attention that none of the allegations have been proved until to-date either by the CID or the media ! If you were’nt aware of the facts, your posting the video here was highly irresponsible of you, more so when it happens to be about an Enlightened Master.
Other Friends in the community that are interested in the truth!
It’s a conspiracy and a trial by the media. You can find it out yourselves by going to Dhyanapeetam and by paying attention to the way it was unfolded by the powerful and the media. Its a sheer religious persecution that we went through !
