NLP is as Charlie said Neuro Linguistic Programming. Founded by Robert Bandler & John Grinder. It is founded on the theory that there is a connection between neurological processes, and the linguistic and behavioural patterns that one learns through one’s journey in life. (which is where the programming comes in I suppose) and that an awareness of these can help one achieve specific goals in life. Basically it is close to counselling I think - helps tone to identify and overcome learned limitations and acheive potential.
This is also where it comes close to the benefits arising out of meditation where one is able to see clearly limitations, supressed emotions, phobias etc and overcome them.
Lie coaching has largely the same objectives that of assisting the trainee acheive his life goals and uses technques of values assessment, behavior modification, behavior modeling, goal-setting etc for this purpose.
It occurred to me that both NLP and Yogic training could be used profitably in a career as a Life Coach- hence my question.
Sorry, so darn many abbreviations in my life now I can’t place what NLP is. I really don’t even know what life coaching entails, so I’m not qualified to even give an opinion on the subject.
Just commenting as I’ve seen there are quite a few views but no responses yet. Maybe you could give a little more detail?
