Lino Miele - Ashtanga Workshop

Hi guys,

I am planning on going to Kerala in mid-November. I have seen that Lino Miele, a very well respected Ashtanga teacher is doing 8 weeks of workshops starting on Dec 8. I have some questions, if anybody can assist.

-> What is the daily schedule like? How intensive is it? (I have practiced Ashtanga for a few months only)

-> Does it typically get booked out? I am wary of paying for the 8 weeks and being exhausted and unable to continue after a couple of weeks. But paying on a week-by-week basis is far more expensive.

-> Does it make sense to join this course when as things stand I far prefer Hatha Yoga? The way I see it is that opportunities to train under the guidance of a top teacher are very rare, and so perhaps this workshop will instill in me a love for Ashtanga Yoga.

Please, any advice would be appreciated

Hello Astaneh,
I see your thread was posted a long time ago but I can bring my humble knowledge about Lino Miele in Kovalam.

I spent a month in Kovalam in 2007, but I wasn’t practicing with Lino, as I was not confirmed enough at that time, and I was not yet an ashtanga practitioner. I joined the retreat organised by Shiva Rea in a resort nearby, I just did the yoga class but didn’t stay at the resort. and I did a Pancha Karma in the same time.

My neighbors in the guest house where I stayed where 2 advanced ashtanga practicionners and I got to hang out with them a lot, and hence getting to know their fellow Lino Miele Students and assistants. I remember they were all confirmed Ashtanga people, they were waking up at 4am every day to attend class from 5 to 8am. The style was only Mysore, so I think you need to know sequences in detail…

Hope it helps ! Enjoy Kerala, such a great place on earth !

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it! In the end I did not get the opportunity to go to the course, but I’ll be heading to Kerala pretty soon anyway so I’m glad you tell me that it is a great place
