Looking for an ashram

Hello everyone… I’m hoping to find an ashram where I can donate some help and time and find some days of peacefulness and yoga in exchange. I was wondering if someone knew about an ashram or some type of yoga community that would do such a trade. I’m a hard worker and can help with daily chores, gardening, farming, animals, construction etc. I’d appreciate any input that you can offer. Thanks and Happy New Year!!

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

Perhaps a bit more info regarding your budget, where you are and where you want to go, will help us to really supply you with the necessary info that would best serve your request. I am in South Africa and can recommend places here, can you travel to my country or even do you want to travel to SA and secondly can you afford to travel long distances?

Yeah. If you let me know where you want to go or which country you are hoping to stay at an ashram in I can give you a couple of suggestions. There are ashrams all over the world, and some do have free accommodations as well as service learning programs.

Yes I saw that this was an old post, but since someone responded…
I’m going to be taking some travel time soon. I may be able to afford to travel long distances in addition to my own plans, and would like to study at ashrams but cannot afford to pay a lot for accommodation (normally I couch-surf and stay places for free). Any recommendations for service-learning / free/very discounted accommodation ashrams??

Pandara - South Africa, by the way, would be awesome.

Hey, if you can come to India the sivananda ashram would be a perfect place for you to start.

Hello

I am practicing yoga for last 10 years and I wanted to do a good teacher training course for very long.
I wanted to go to India for the TTC as I wanted to have the knowledge directly from the roots. After long search
on internet and talking to many schools in India I did my TTC at Ananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram, North India.
It is beautiful ashram and a perfect place for those interested in Yoga and spirituality. The atmosphere is very peaceful, the teachers were very inspiring and caring. I learnt alot about teaching, correcting, alignments apart from the right principles
, actually much more than I expected from the course. They only accept 15 students in a course, the course was an eye opener, I saw many differences in Yoga in Europe and Yoga in India, If you are serious about Yoga then I would highly recommend it, you can check them at anandayogashram.org
